The Pony Mad Princess
Princess Ellie is pony-mad, and she doesn't always enjoy being
a princess. She hates being on her best behaviour, wearing frilly pink dresses and having boring waving lessons.
But the upside of being royal is having her own ponies (4 at the beginning of the series and 6 by the end), and she loves spending time with them.
Each of the thirteen books in the series follow Ellie's adventures with her ponies and the ups and down of being a princess. They are popular with newly-confident readers, especially pony-mad girls, and have been translated into many different languages. I don't do the translations - I am useless at any language except my own, although I have tried learning French and Russian.

Princess Ellie and the Perfect Plan is a satisfying story with plenty of authentic, and at times exciting, pony content for the young reader, and plenty for the older reader to think about too. It's another triumph for Diana Kimpton.
